Police: Brazen Brooklyn Robber Targets Older Residents

Image of alleged robber. Seniors are being advised to be on the lookout for a suspect targeting elderly victims throughout this summer. The bold robber has committed multiple hold-ups on the same day, twice during this crime spree.

According to police, over a dozen robberies have been committed within neighborhoods of the 63rd, 67th and 69th Precincts. The suspect approaches his victims and displays a silver firearm demanding jewelry in broad daylight.

The robberies have taken place during normal working hours from 9:25 a.m. to 5:25 p.m., all in the month of July.

The latest robbery took place on Sunday, July 28th, when the alleged robber approached a 70-year-old male in front of 693 East 38th Street at 3:20 p.m.

The rash of robberies includes:

•Wednesday, July 10th at 11:30 a.m. in front of 976 East 40th Street. The victim was a 70-year-old black male.

•Sunday, July 14th Street at 9:25 a.m. in front of 1199 Schenectady Avenue. The victim was a 67-year-old black male.

•Thursday, July 18th at 11:30 a.m. at East 39th Street and Avenue H. The victim was a 57-year-old black male.

•That same day again, Thursday, July 18th at 1:40 p.m. in front of 629 East 42nd Street. The victim was a 66- year-old black male.

•Friday, July 19th at 10 a.m. in front of 733 East 45th Street. The victim was a 74-year-old black male.

•Tuesday, July 23rd at 4 p.m. in front of 952 East 39th Street. The victim was a 78-year-old black male.

•Wednesday, July 24th at 3:30 p.m. on East 55th Street and Avenue H. The victim was a 48-year-old black female. On the same day, a half hour later, on East 53rd Street and Avenue I – the victim was a 62-year-old black female.

•Again, that same day, at 5:25 p.m. in front of 618 East 38th Street. This time the victim was a 64-year-old black male.

•Friday, July 26th at 2:25 p.m. in front of 674 East 77th Street. The victim was a 66-year-old black male.

The suspect is described as a light skinned black male, approximately 18-25 years old, about 5'2” to 5'5,” around 150 pounds with a slim build. He was last seen wearing a light colored baseball hat.
