Three people were injured on December 5 when this blaze engulfed their residence on Remsen Avenue near Avenue A. Neil S. Friedman Fire marshals are investigating the source of a "suspicious" fire in a three-story house on Remsen Avenue on December 5. Two youths and one adult were injured in the blaze, which apparently started on the first floor but quickly spread to the third floor and to the attached apartment next door, according to a fire department spokesman who said the youths were taken to Brookdale Hospital for treatment and observation. Hospital officials did not release the names or ages of the youths.

The injured adult said his wounds were superficial and refused treatment at the scene, the spokesman said.

Firefighters said they received the original 911 call at 5:26 p.m. and a second alarm at 5:34 p.m. when it was determined to be necessary. The fire was declared under control by 6 p.m., with literally dozens of firefighters checking all three floors for any signs that it might re-ignite.

No firefighters were hurt, according to authorities.
