Animal Care Kudos

On behalf of Animal Care & Control of NYC (AC&C), my staff and the 48,000 lost and homeless dog and cats we are entrusted to care for annually, I want to express our heartfelt gratitude for the terrific support and assistance the Canarsie Courier has extended.

Weekly you have run photos and bios of cats and dogs in our Brooklyn Animal Care Center for adoption in your Pet of the Week. Happily we want to assure you that each pet featured in your paper has found a permanent loving new home. “The Pet Column” has graciously included articles of advice from me on various subjects to benefit pets and their guardians.

AC&C is the largest pet rescue organization and the second largest pet adoption agency east of the Rocky Mountains. We are excited to report that in the past 11 months adoptions have increased over last year by 101% while euthanasia is down by 15%. I am delighted to say that we are within sight of our goal of making NYC the first major metropolitan city in the U.S. to end pet euthanasia as a form of pet overpopulation control by 2009.

The Canarsie Courier is an exceptional media partner in helping make NYC the safest city in the USA for our four legged companions.

Thanks to you and your staff for joining us in this life affirming program to help our communities voiceless companions. I look forward to continuing our successful partnership with the Canarsie Courier.
